Community Outreach

Team 624 is about a lot more than building robots. Keeping true to the goals of FIRST®, we strive to make a difference throughout our community and inspire a greater appreciation for science and technology. Doing this takes a variety of forms:

CRyptonite is dedicated to helping teach the next generation of scientists and engineers, even before they get to high school. We hold an annual Science Day Camp for 100 elementary students throughout Katy ISD. At Science Day Camp, participants visit different stations where CRyptonite Members teach them about astronomy, physics, chemistry, engineering, and, of course, robotics. Additionally, at our elementary school visits, we show off our robots to excite students about science and technology. This year's Science Day Camp will be held on Saturday, November 19 from 8:00 AM to 2:30 PM. All 4th through 7th graders are welcome! Lunch will be provided with a vegetarian option available. Registration is $55 which includes all of the activites, lunch, and a camp T-shirt. Register at https://CRHS-ScienceDayCamp2018.eventbrite.com/

Education
Public Awareness

Team 624 strives to increase public awareness of what we do and the benefits of science and technology. We show off our robots to our local community with demonstrations in front of local restaurants and stores. On a broader scale, our robot demonstrations at the Houston Rockets stadium and at the Reliant stadium bring the excitement of what we do to thousands of Houstonians. Additionally, through our food drives, CRyptonite continues to help out and give back to our community.

Team 624 believes in the power of FIRST and strives to grow the program in our community. We have played a role in the formation of numerous FRC teams both in and out of our school district. Furthermore, we have helped create FIRST Lego League (FLL) teams at local junior high schools. We keep a close connection with these teams, with CRyptonite students serving as the primary mentors and coaches for the FLL students.
